I tried to blog last week but lost it all, so here goes again.

Captain’s log, Star Date 401

Dave and I just got back from a couple of days in London. We stayed at the Sheraton Hotel in Knightsbridge, courtesy of Dave’s points: sheer luxury, lovely down-filled pillows and duvet, as well as a walk-in shower. Mind you, the piano bar was charging a ton on the drinks!!!

While in London, we went to see “Endgame” by Samuel Beckett with Michael Gambon and Liz Smith, and two others whose names I cannot remember. A bit ironic about the end of the world – Dave wasn’t impressed but I enjoyed seeing the actors and being in the West End. We got the tickets from TKTS in Leicester Square on the morning of the performance, a good deal. We ended up walking there from Knightsbridge because the Piccadilly line was closed when we went to use it – something to do with an unaccompanied package!

Anyway, it was good exercise, and nice and sunny out, and we saw the Horse Guards on their way to the changing of the guard at Buck House. Also wandered through St. James’s Park and inspected the many varieties of ducks – even saw an Eider which I don’t remember having seen before.

After we had recovered from that walk, a little, we went off to the Victoria and Albert Museum and poked around in the European Galleries and the Fashion area. We had to leave after about 3 hrs because we were so shattered from the morning exertions.

TBC.
