What have I been doing since I last posted? Oh my Gosh, too much. Actually having a great time here in the land of Smiles.

The Bed Push was fun, seven kilometers didn’t seem far at all when you are part of a 50 bed parade all dressed up and very carnival like. The police kept one lane of the road for us to walk along and when we came to junctions they held the traffic up while we crossed. It took us about 21/2 hours with a 3/4 hr stop half way round for free refreshments in the park. The walk ended up in the grounds of the British Club where we partied until midnight and ended up dancing on the tables! Some of the beds were: “Dracula Undead” complete with coffin and Dracula, “Barry
Potter” with all the magical bits, “Noddy” and his car, British Houses of parliament pushed by “Beefeaters”, Breast cancer support group complete with 2 pink satin breasts of different sizes, mini Thai boxing ring with 2 Thai boys, and etc. Great turn out and a great success I am sure.

At the beginning of October we had some Habberjams from New Zealand visit us. Turns out, we think, that his grandfather was a cousin of Dave’s grandfather and he emigrated to NZ giving rise to a few Kiwi Habberjams!!!! It was lovely to meet them especially as they had made a detour to Bangkok on their way home from a trip to UK, in order to meet us. At the same time, Jan and Bernie, old friends from RAF days, visited us. Fortunately we all got on great and had a very hectic 4 days of seeing some of the sights of Bangkok. The Grand Palace was one of them, a magnificent place but Oh! so hot and sweaty. Another ‘sight’ was the Banyan Tree hotel’s Vertigo Bar on the 61st floor roof, very open plan!!!!!! The first place we went with our guests was the Thai Canadian Chamber of Commerce Harvest Ball. A very good evening food wise and lots of great door and raffle prizes as well as silent auction items. We came away with a few meals in restaurants and of course more candles!!!!! Jan and Bernie stayed for 3 weeks but took off to the beach for a lot of that time. When we did see them we had a great time shopping and eating and drinking. They are at the moment living in Saudi, rather a difficult posting for Jan I think.
